Take your music career to the next level by taking a leap into the Festival Circuit!

 2/3/2010
Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is pleased to announce its next workshop from the InSight and Sound Seminar Series titled “The Festival Circuit” on Wednesday, February 17th from 7 to 9 p.m.

Canada offers an extraordinarily diverse music festival circuit and becoming a player within that market can boost your career to another level. Whether you are an established or up and coming musician, Canada’s music festivals offer an audience for everyone.  Looking to hit the road in the summer? Come to this session and learn how to book some great festival gigs!

The session will be instructed by Peter MacDonald.
Peter is the Executive Director of The Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF), Canada’s largest member-based folk and roots music organization. The OCFF is a network of 30 member festivals, some 60 organizations (record companies, bands, venues, presenters, managers, booking agents, publicists and other industry folk) and over 400 individuals, most of them performers.

Before becoming the OCFF Executive Director, Peter ran Nutshell Music & Event Management, a production and promotion company which put thousands of artists on stages over his 12-year period at festivals, showcases, conferences and conventions.  Peter has played many roles in his professional arts career: promoter, event producer, artist manager, agent, stage manager, tour manager, and amateur psychologist.

The session, free for members and $5 for non-members, will be taking place at Algoma’s Water Tower Inn, located at 360 Great Northern Road, in Sault Ste. Marie.
If you are outside the Sault Ste. Marie region and cannot attend the session in person, a live stream is available.  This initiative is designed to increase the accessibility of our seminars for artists and filmmakers in communities across Northern Ontario.  Those who are viewing the live stream of the session can also take part by submitting comments and questions through the discussion board.

For more information or to register for this session, please call MFM at 705-674-9954. Space is limited so please book ahead to reserve a place. The deadline to register for access to the live stream is at 6 p.m. on the day of the session.  This session is offered in English only.
