Finalists for La Brunante's 2010 Showcase are announced

Les Concerts La Nuit sur l’étang have selected three finalists for La Brunante’s showcase program to be held at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium on Saturday, February 20th at 7 PM. The evening will wrap up with a performance by AkoufèN, last year’s winner of the La Brunante.
The three finalists are (in alphabetical order):

- Le Jeudi Soir, Sudbury, ON
- Leila, Sudbury, ON

Le Bistro
is a group of students from Collège Notre-Dame that has been together since 2006 and is formed of six musicians.
Le Bistro
is influenced by blues, rock, country, folklore and certainly by francophone music. This project, offered to students by Mrs. Renée Dupuis and Mr. Mario Taillefer, has allowed the musicians to participate in writing songs and creating music with a great sense of humour.
Le Bistro
entertains both young and old. This is a must-see group in the musical contest La Brunante. It’ll be an unforgettable show!

Le Jeudi Soir
is a rock group formed by four students from l’École secondaire catholique l’Horizon. The members are Cédric Bourgeois as singer and guitarist, Martin St-Amant on guitar, Justin Labelle on the drums and their new addition, Stefan Brisebois playing the bass. The three original members have been playing together for over a year. These four music lovers are ready to experiment with different styles and try new things. Their style is influenced by artists such as Noir Silence, Éric Lapointe and Stéphane Paquette. They want to play good francophone music, have fun and promote their culture.

Leïla
was raised in a very musical family and very quickly developed her musical talents. Her parents provided her with instruments and signed her up for singing and piano lessons. She was lucky enough to meet her idol, Luce Dufault, during the artist’s most recent tour in
Northern Ontario
.
It is in grade 9 at l’École secondaire Macdonald Cartier that Leïla began singing, writing and playing piano and guitar as a member of the Groupe 17. Throughout the years, she has established her style: Leïla sings the blues! She has developed her talents as a pianist as well as her knowledge of the structures of music.
As a member of Groupe 17, Leïla has sung at many different events in the Greater Sudbury area such as Earth Day Festival, the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of ESMC, the festivals ‘Quand ça nous chante’ and a number of other festivals and events. She even had the chance to sing with Stef Paquette.
