6 MONTH CONTRACT / CONTRAT DE SIX MOIS

Salary / Rémunération: $367.50 weekly, 35 hours per week

The successful applicant will provide exceptional administrative and creative support to Cinéfest Sudbury’s Programming and Guest Services Departments. The key role of the Industry and Guest Services Liaison will be to manage and assist with the recruitment and maintenance of all submissions to the Festival and ancillary programs, services and offerings (i.e. maintain database of all Canadian and international film submissions, Best in Shorts registrants, etc). The Intern will also be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the use of the Festival’s online submission tool, withoutabox.com and for assisting with Guest accommodation and travel arrangements.

Duties include:

Receive, research and respond to public inquiries (phone calls, letters, emails)

Create and compose correspondence to all applicants and assist with submission queries based on direction from the Programming Department while following the organization’s protocol contained in its Policies and Procedures manual
- Develop and maintain a contact and information database of all submissions the 2010 Festival and Best in Shorts competition, as well as a viewing library in conjunction with submissions database, ensuring ease-of-use for all members of the Programming Department
- Review, update and maintain current contact list for distributors, producers and various industry organizations; research and add to listings when required
- Act as a liaison between applicants, confirmed guests and the Programming Department, maintaining confidentiality and a high degree of professionalism
- Assist with the research, writing, input and editing of copy for programming purposes; disseminate programming information to Marketing and Communications Department on an ongoing basis, updating and revising as required by the Programming Department
- Access distributor databases/portholes and compile still images, press kits, etc.; access industry websites and compile any missing/additional information as festival film screenings are confirmed

Required Skills and Qualifications: The successful candidate must be a recent University or College graduate (preferably in one of the following areas of study: Film Studies, English, Communications, Event Planning) aged 30 or under, who is either unemployed or underemployed. Skill requirements include, but are not limited to:

- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English – ability to converse in French an asset
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Research, editing and writing experience
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office programs, database experience an asset
- General office skills; answering telephones, using in-office equipment
- Tact and diplomacy; attention to detail; ability to maintain focus under pressure
- Enthusiasm for film and/or the Festival
