Myths and Mirrors Summer Project
“Keepers Of The Water” Summer arts project:
On June 28th 2010 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Myths and Mirrors will be having an educational day to launch their “Keepers Of The Water” summer project. Aboriginal elder Winnie Pitawannakwat and senior city planner Jason Ferrigan, as well as speakers from The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee and The Coalition For A Liveable Sudbury will be in attendance to educate the community on the revitalization of Junction Creek and prepare participants for the Myths And Mirrors Summer Arts Project “Keepers Of The Water”. Lunch will be provided.

The project will be a celebration of the environmental stewards through painting, performance, music, sculpture, video and photography with the help of our funders: the Ontario Arts Council, the Canada Council For The Arts and the City Of Greater Sudbury as well as our partners: the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, Downtown Village Development Corporation, Robert Brown Jewellers, Reg Wilkinson Men’s Fine Clothes, Innovative Guitar Ideas and la Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario.

Victory Park project:
Begining on Tuesday July 6th at noon until 5, the 2010 Summer Victory Park project will be implementing art projects that the children and the youth of the Donovan area could take part. These projects would enhance their park and their neighbourhood. These include a community garden and stage, which the Donovan Elm West CAN will install this summer; they also include a welcome sign to the park, as well as organizing a neighbourhood parade, which will take place during Donovan Days.

The programs will run every Tuesday to Friday, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm beginning July 6th to August 22nd at Victory Park and open to  all children and youth from the Donovan, Elm West and Flour Mill areas, as well as any other interested children and youth. This project will be a partnership with the Donovan Elm West Community Action Network and Better Beginnings Better Futures, with the support of the Coalition for a liveable Sudbury as well as funded by the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Greater Sudbury.
