Finnish Invasion at Loplops
Hello everyone,

As you might have already heard, FinnFest 2010 is finally here and it looks like it will be one amazing celebration.

Loplops is in full party mode after 2 amazing weeks of entertainment already. Mr Something Something packed the place on Friday night and Forest City Lovers brought everyone back the following night. The unbelievable Romi Mayes capped off the weekend with a special Sunday night performance.

This week, however, belongs to the Finns.

Tuesday July 27th, "A Generation" art exhibition opening featuring Maarit Annala-Steinwedel, daughter Liisa Steinwedel and son Mitchel Steinwedel. This is a one week show as part of the FinnFest. This event will be from 4:00 to 7:00 with "treats" from Taste of Scandia.

Wednesday July 28th, Tapas and Jazz Night. This event seems to be picking up alot of steam as more and more people are finding out about it. This week Beth Boskovitch will be preparing a "Picnic" style theme for the menu. Please check back to the website at

Thursday July 29th, as part of FinnFest 2010, Loplops Gallery~Lounge present Kalle Mattson. This Finn has been playing all across Ontario and Eastern Canada lately and we are proud to have him back home to play.

Friday July 30th, as part of FinnFest 2010, Loplops Gallery~Lounge presents The Boothill Crooners with special guest from Toronto Marc Merilainen (Acoustic/Folk) (
http://www.myspace.com/marcmerilainen). The Jaaskelainen brothers (Boothil Crooners, Wild Turkeys, Goulais River Rats) have become a household name in these parts and across Ontario. Marc Merilainen is coming up to perform at FinnFest and most recently was seen playing at the winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Saturday July 31st, as part of FinnFest, Loplops Gallery~Lounge presents Mark Kuntsi, from Honeythroat and from Toronto, Kristel Niemi (Folk Rock/Pop) (

It looks like it will be an amazing long weekend as we hit the half way point of the summer. Please be safe if you are on the road traveling this weekend.
